Russia Using North Korean Missiles In Ukraine, Seeking Iranian Missiles: White House
The United States said on Thursday that its information indicates that Russia has been using North Korean missiles in its latest attacks against Ukraine, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
Washington determined North Korea had recently provided Russia with a ballistic missile launcher and several ballistic missiles, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters. "We anticipate that Russia will use additional North Korean missiles to target Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and to kill innocent Ukrainian civilians,” he said.
In return for providing ballistic missiles, the U.S. believes North Korea is seeking fighter aircraft, surface to air missiles and other advanced technology to upgrade its own military capabilities.
Kirby also confirmed that Russia is seeking Iranian missiles to use in Ukraine as well.
"We cannot and will not stay silent as the Russian Federation continues to turn to rogue regimes for weapons to use in its ongoing war against Ukraine and civilians,"
Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Ambassador to the UN, said in a tweet Thursday night.
"It’s abominable that Russia – a permanent member of the UN Security Council – is flagrantly violating Council resolutions," she added.
