Russian Helicopters to Be Used in Peacekeeping Operation in Nagorno-Karabakh
Moscow / 12.11.20 / Turan: The Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces will control the areas of the cessation of hostilities in the conflict zone in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported to journalists at the Russian Defense Ministry.
"The helicopters will be involved in the peacekeeping operation to carry out air monitoring of the ceasefire and military operations control areas in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the military department noted.
As the Ministry of Defense specified, the helicopters will also be involved in the delivery of material and technical equipment and personnel of the peacekeeping contingent to hard-to-reach areas.
The helicopters were transferred to the Yerevan airfield on the An-124 Ruslan military transport aircraft.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that following the video communication talks between Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu and Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, a Memorandum was signed on the establishment of a joint Russian-Turkish center to control the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh.
