State Migration Service (SMS)reported on the fight against illegal migration in September
Baku/03.10.23/Turan: During the joint activities of the State Migration Service (SMS) and the State Security Service (SSS), 31 foreigners with expired visas were detained in Baku. According to the SMS report, during the investigation it was found that a travel company located abroad fraudulently brought these persons to Azerbaijan for $2,500.
They were promised employment in Azerbaijan. These persons were placed at different addresses in Baku, not allowing them to leave their place of residence. The collected materials were sent for legal evaluation to the relevant law enforcement agency.
In total, 873 foreigners were detained during measures to combat illegal migration in September 2023 by the State Migration Service. They were on the territory of the country without documents granting the right to stay and reside in the country, were involved in illegal labor activity or did not live at the place of registration. During this period, 312 illegal migrants were administratively expelled from Azerbaijan.
The rest were provided with the legalization of their residence on the territory of the country or their voluntary departure from the country. ---05B06---
