US Congressman on 25th Anniversary of January Tragedy
A Congressman, Co-chair of the Working Group of the US Congress on Azerbaijan Bill Shuster made a statement in connection with the 25th anniversary of the January tragedy, reported the Azerbaijani embassy in the United States.
Schuster condemned the bloody action of Soviet troops against civilians in Azerbaijan on 20 January 1990, which resulted in hundreds of people killed and wounded.
It was a warning from the communist regime to the other republics of the Soviet Union.
January 20 rallied the people of Azerbaijan, and the result of this process was the declaration of independence of Azerbaijan.
The US congressman expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani people for friendship with the United States. -16D04-
