U.S. President Joe Biden "has been briefed" on what's happening in Russia, the White House said Saturday morning in its response to the fast-moving developments in Russia, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
"We are monitoring the situation and will be consulting with allies and partners on these developments," a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council said.
A senior U.S. official told reporters that they believe the chaotic situation in Russia is "real", albeit the administration is waiting to see how things develop before offering any further comment.
