Trumped-up charges not to reduce political activity of the opposition youth
Law enforcement agencies pursuing an opposition youth trumped up charges to scare away from political life - told Objective TV (obyektiv.tv) member of the Youth Committee of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan Dayanet Babaev.
In recent days, he was twice detained. The first time he got 7 days in jail (after the protest on November 17), when the protesters demanded in central Baku to dissolve the parliament illegitimate. The second time he was arrested after the period of detention - November 24, based on the application of a citizen Tofig Salimov, whom he allegedly beat with a group of persons (Article 221.2.1 of the Criminal Code).
As the lawyer Asabali Mustafayev said, these events allegedly occurred on November 7, but Babayev was arrested two weeks later. In addition, the body of the "victim" has no evidence of the beating. However, Nasimi Court (the judge Azer Pashayev) took Dayanat Babaev on bail and decided to continue the investigation.
The court will resume in 2-3 months, which means the "freezing" of Babayev's political activity this time.
The activist said the action of the court and law enforcement is unreasonable and unfair and he is not going to stop his political activities. -17D-
