A coup attempt prevented in Kyrgyzstan
Baku/05.06.23/Turan: A coup attempt has been prevented in Kyrgyzstan, mass arrests are being carried, the media in Bishkek reported. But journalists in this country do not have information about the perpetrators or suspects.
A correspondent of a Bishkek media reported about the detention of opponents of President Sardar Zhaparov and the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev. "In Kyrgyzstan they are called "eki dosy" (two friends). Journalists, bloggers, politicians criticizing the authorities and personally the two named leaders were taken away. Anyone can be arrested here. Complete lawlessness," the journalist said, with a request not to disclose his name.
"Two crazy people, they used to be allies, then they clashed with each other, now they are together, under the roof of Russia. They imprison all critics of their regime. Corrupt officials are also detained, but money is taken from them and immediately released. We are concerned about the statement of Putin's representative - Peskov, his comment leads to unpleasant conclusions, as if some kind of provocation is taking place," the journalist from Bishkek added.
Employees of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan carried out mass detention of "participants in a possible coup d'etat," the news agency 24.kg reported with reference to their own sources The agency's report notes that a group of people were preparing to seize power by force. Who exactly was detained by the special service is not specified. Officially, law enforcement agencies have not yet commented on this information.
"Of course, such very disturbing news is coming. Therefore, we are closely monitoring this news," Kremlin spokesman Peskov told reporters.
Previously, the President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed his intention to improve relations between Kazakhstan and the EU. Bishkek was visited by the President of the EU Council Charles Michel. Kyrgyzstan is a member of the CSTO military bloc and the EurAsEC Economic Union, and declares itself an ally of Russia. But in May, a local resident who fought against Ukraine as part of Russian troops was significantly sentenced to 10 years in prison in the country. Presumably, Zhaparov and Tashiev are clearing the political field for distancing the country from Russia.-0--
