ADDB Activist Huseyn Melik Released from Police (Updated)
Baku / 18.10.19 / Turan: The ADDB activist Huseyn Melik detained the night before was released from the police two hours later. He announced this himself.
According to Melik, after his arrest he was taken to the Sabail district police department.
"For about two hours, they had a "preventive conversation. " I understood that they were concerned about the Saturday rally of the opposition. They wanted to clarify that holding a rally not agreed with the Baku Executive Power is illegal and this will be stopped. They even emphasized that the metropolitan police warned the organizers of the illegality of the action," said Melik.
He noted that he was released after he signed a written warning.
The opposition National Council of Democratic Forces scheduled a rally in Baku on October 19. Authorities suggested the opposition hold an action in the village of Lokbatan, 20 km away from the city. In response, the NCDF stated that the action would take place on the square in front of the May 28 station in central Baku. -05D06-

ADDB Activist Detained
Baku /17.10.19 / Turan: A member of the Board of the Azerbaijan Movement for Democracy and Welfare (ADDB) Huseyn Melik was detained on October 17.
This was reported by the ADDB leader Gubad Ibadoglu.
Melik was detained on Thursday at about 18.30 by police in his apartment in Baku.
"At present, it is impossible to contact him, and calls to his phone do not reach him," Ibadoglu said at 19.15.
He believes that the detention is related to the upcoming October 19 rally of the National Council of Democratic Forces.
"The detention of Huseyn Melik is illegal, and he must be released immediately," Ibadoglu said.
