Announcement of Verdict on Jeyranli Case Postponed in Georgia for Fourth Time
Baku / 19.07.18 / Turan: The Court of Appeal of Georgia for the fourth time postponed the announcement of the decision on the case of cofounder of the clinic Lancet Farman Jeyranly.
Judicial review in the appellate court was completed two months ago.
His relatives believe he is being persecuted for political reasons.
They believe that the delay in the announcement of the decision is due to the recent political changes in Georgia. The relatives expect the court decision will be fair.
Recall that against Jeyranly, who was arrested on May 22, 2017, charges were brought under article 247, paragraph 1 (concealing information threatening life and health) and article 180 (attempted mass fraud). He was sentenced to six years in prison.
Jeyranli said during the trial that he was arrested by an order from Baku, since he is close to the Azerbaijani opposition.
Azerbaijani human rights activists also believe he is being persecuted for political reasons. -06D--
