Another Employee of Foreign Ministry Asks for Asylum in West
A former employee of the consular service of MFA of Azerbaijan Nahid Jafarov asked for political asylum in the Netherlands. Turan was told by his former boss and former representative of the OIC in the EU Arif Mamedov.
"He was my assistant in the Foreign Ministry and the pressure on him began after he liked my status on Facebook.
He was forced to write a petition for dismissal from the Foreign Ministry. He is a very, very competent diplomat and I really appreciate him. I have told you it will be possible to create a shadow foreign ministry soon," Mamedov said.
Recall that this is the third Azerbaijani diplomat, who recently refused to return to his homeland. The reason for this was the pressure on the diplomats because of their proximity to Arif Mamedov, who criticized government officials for callous attitude and arbitrariness towards people. Mamedov was forced to resign from his post after he was accused of anti-state activities.
Solidarity with him went costly to his fellow diplomats. -02D-
