Armenians liberate Georgian Azerbaijani
The accused of illegally crossing the Armenian-Georgian border Georgian citizen, ethnic Azerbaijani Turgay Mikayilov was released. At the court trial held on December 23 in the Lori region of Armenia, he was found guilty and sentenced to 5 months' imprisonment. Taking into account that the man was detained on July 23, the court decided to release Turgay Mikailov. At the request of the defendant's counsel the trial was held behind closed doors.
At around 21:00 on 23 July Mikayilov without going through border checkpoints, on foot crossed the Armenian-Georgian border near the village of Dzyunashoh in Lori region.
A 35-year-old Mikailov was charged under Part 1 of Article 329 of the Criminal Code (illegal border crossing). This article suggests a fine of 100 thousand drams or imprisonment for up to 3 years. The man claims that he was drunk. -02D-
