Azerbaijani chess player won World Youth Championship
Baku/22.10.22/Turan: Azerbaijani chess player Govhar Beydullayeva has become the winner of the World Youth (U-20) Championship held in Sardinia, Italy.
In the penultimate, tenth round she played to a draw against Zala Ur of Slovenia and scored 8.5 points. Regardless of the outcome of her last game at the Championship, Beidullayeva will retain the lead, as she holds a personal game advantage over her main competitor Assel Serikbay of Kazakhstan.
Another representative of Azerbaijan Lyaman Hajiyeva is ninth with 7 points and if she wins the last round, depending on the results of other games, she has a chance to take third place.
Among the boys, Azerbaijani representative Abdullah Gadimbeyli is second with 7.5 points. He is 0.5 points behind the leader.

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony.
