Bakhtiyar Hajiyev forcibly hospitalized?
Baku / 10.02.23 / Turan: “Bakhtiyar Hajiyev is going to be forcibly transferred to the Medical Institution of the Penitentiary Service. And perhaps they have already been transferred there. ”
This was announced on the evening of February 10 executive director of the human rights organization "Protection Line" Rufat Safarov in a video message to facebook.com citing a "reliable source".
According to him, the transfer of Gadzhiev to the hospital of the Penitentiary Service may be associated with a sharp deterioration in the condition of the activist.
“On February 9, during a medical examination, Bakhtiyar refused an offer to hospitalize him. Bakhtiyar said that he would either get out of prison alive, or they would carry out his body,” Hajiyev said.
In his opinion, the need for hospitalization could arise in connection with a sharp deterioration in the activist's condition or even falling into a coma. He also expressed concerns about the possible force-feeding of Hajiyev. In Safarov's opinion, Hajiyev warned that if he was force-fed through a tube, his hands and feet were tied, he might resort to suicide. “We are very worried about Bakhtiyar, especially since lawyers are not allowed into the pre-trial detention center on Saturday and Sunday. Therefore, we appealed to the leadership of the Penitentiary Service to allow lawyers to see Bakhtiyar no later than Saturday morning to clarify the place of his detention,” Safarov said. Hajiyev's mother, Solida Movlayeva, also made a video message on facebook, in which she expressed her concern about reports of her son's forced transfer to a medical institution of the Penitentiary Service. “Bakhtiyar told his lawyers yesterday that he did not want to be hospitalized. He goes on a hunger strike demanding his release. They want to use force against him, forcibly feed him artificially. He is not a criminal, he is not a bully, he just defends his rights. If it is necessary to transfer him to a hospital, then let him be placed in a civilian clinic. Let them not go against his will. If something happens to him, a tragedy happens, then the head of state and the interior minister will be directly responsible for this,” Movlayeva said.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days.
On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. On December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from the public and family members. However, on January 9, he resumed his hunger strike after the appeal court refused to release him and continues to this day.
It was not possible to get comments in the penitentiary service. On January 21, the court extended Hajiyev's arrest for another 1 month. ---16B06---

On a brisk November evening, the residents of Baku gathered along the waterfront of the Caspian Sea, stunned by what appeared to be the washed-up body of a colossal whale. At 16 meters long, the creature’s seemingly lifeless form and pungent odor left many convinced they were witnessing an ecological tragedy. By that night, however, the mysterious visitor had departed, loaded onto a cargo platform and whisked away to the airport.
