Candidate for MP of Benefits for Pro-government Candidates
A candidate for MP from the 42nd Sumgayit Second Constituency, a representative of the opposition movement REAL Hafiz Babali claimed a violation of equality of participants in the electoral process.
In his statement he noted that all applicants that received the signature lists to collect signatures of voters must be provided with equal opportunities. However, in reality, the district election commissions are clearly lobbying candidates from the ruling party.
Thus, the issuance of signature sheets by the law must be carried out within 5 days, but for representatives of the New Azerbaijan Party they are available in one day.
The time for consideration of signature sheets handed over is defined as 7 days. To verify the signatures on these and other documents experts are not involved.
As a result, about 30 candidates from New Azerbaijan have already been registered, although the party announced its list on 15 September.
Babali condemns the establishment of such privileges for the ruling party, urging the CEC to take measures in order to create equal opportunities for all candidates. -06D-
