Classic Popular Front Party's Activist Jeyhun Nabi Detained
Baku / 10/23/18 / Turan: An activist of the Classic Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (CPFPA), a research historian Jeyhun Nabi was detained in the Shamkir district immediately after returning from Russia on October 23, said the human rights activist Oktay Gyulaliyev on Facebook. According to him, Nabi was taken by police to Baku.
The Shamkir district police told Nabi's family he had been taken away to Baku "in connection with public affairs."
According to Gulaliyev, Nabi is a researcher on the history of Azerbaijan in the period of the People"s Republic of 1918-20. In addition, he was known for critical statuses in social networks about the authorities of Azerbaijan. The human rights activist sees political motives in the detention. -06B--
