Court of Appeal Dismissed Appeal by Bayram Mammadov
The Baku Court of Appeal today dismissed the NIDA activist Bayram Mammadov.
The complaint was filed against the verdict of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes on December 8, 2016, which sentenced Bayram Mammadov to 10 years in prison on charges of drug trafficking on a large scale.
According to the lawyer Elchin Sadigov, the appellate court did not conduct an objective investigation, and did not satisfy any of the defense motions. This decision will be filed a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court.
* Bayram Mammadov and Giyas Ibrahimov were arrested on May 10, 2016, the day after they wrote political slogans on the monument to Heydar Aliyev in the center of Baku.
