PACE Rapporteur Meets with M. Huseynov and H. Ismayilova
The Speaker of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of PACE Alain Destexhe met on Friday with representatives of the civil society of Azerbaijan.
In particular, he had a conversation with the investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova and the cherman IRFS blogger Mehman Huseynov.
Huseynov told Turan that Destexhe was interested in the situation with freedom of media and the Internet, and the facts of the persecution of online activists and journalists, including the blogger himself.
The PACE representative was provided with information about the situation with political prisoners in the country.
Destexhe was appointed Rapporteur on March 7, 2016 to assess the situation with human rights in Azerbaijan. Since then, he only once visited Baku during the opening races of Formula 1 in June 2016, and met only with officials. -06B-

During search and operational activities, on January 30 at 11:20, 16.4 kg of drugs were discovered and seized in the area of the "Geytapa" border post, located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border.
