D18 Movement Launches Student Campaign
Baku / 10.10.19 / Turan: Civil movement D18 launched a campaign to achieve preferential rates for students to travel by public transport.
The organization intends to collect 5 thousand student signatures and apply to the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the leader of the Movement, Ruslan Izzetli, in most countries such benefits exist for students. "Even under a totalitarian Soviet system, benefits existed for many social groups.
In neighboring Turkey and Russia, as well as in European countries, students also enjoy privileges when visiting catering facilities, museums, and buying books," Izzetli said.
150 thousand students study in 54 state and private universities in Azerbaijan, however, the state does not implement any social projects in relation to them.
Universities do not have dormitories, scholarships amount to only 60-140 manat. "How can a student live in such conditions?" he said.-03B06-
