Economic Crisis Lowers Rating of Azerbaijani Army
The Azerbaijani army lost its rating by 13 points in the Power Index of the ranking of the military research portal Global Firepower this year, dropping from the 50th to the 63rd place.
The report released yesterday considered 50 factors, including the possibility of the army to use conventional weapons on land, air and sea. Also taken into account were the economic resources available to the country and their geographical position.
In the future, Azerbaijan's rating may deteriorate due to lower GDP, foreign exchange reserves of oil, and reduction in military spending.
At the same time, Azerbaijani armed forces remain the strongest in the South Caucasus (Georgia - 70th, Armenia – 74th) and even superior to the power of the armies of a number of Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan - 66, Kyrgyzstan -78, Tajikistan - 81, Turkmenistan - 90).
The list of the strongest armies from the first to the tenth place is occupied by the United States, Russia, China, India, the United Kingdom, France, South Korea, Germany, Japan and Turkey.
A belligerent Ukrainian army lost 4 points in the rankings, moving from the 21st to the 25th place. Belarus took the 45th place.
Completing the rating of 126 countries are Somalia, Mozambique and Mali. -0-
