Editor of Gundelik Baky Sentenced to Four Years Imprisonment for Extortion
Baku / 08.05.18 / Turan: On May 8, the Baku Court for Grave Crimes sentenced the editor of the newspaper Gundelik Baky, Gabil Veliyev, to four years in prison. The prosecutor had offered to sentence him to 7.5 years.
The editor-in-chief of the newspaper Gundelik Baky, Gabil Veliyev, was arrested in December 2016 on suspicion of extortion by threats, carrying out operational search activities without authorization.
Note that the Press Council included Gundelik Baky in the list of racketeer media, which violate the law and are engaged in extortion. -06D--
