Detained activists of Facebook should be released. Somehow, all activists of this social network in Azerbaijan are accused of crimes related to drugs, as if Facebook is the drug cartel. This was the leitmotif of the press conference in defense blogger Abdul Abilova held on March 6 at the office IRFS.
It was noted that currently in Azerbaijan five bloggers are under arrest. Four of them are Abdul Abilov, Rashad Ramazanov, Elvin Kerimov and Omar Mamedov are charged under Article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code (production, purchase, storage , distribution and large-scale transportation of drugs.) Punishment under this Article threatened with imprisonment from five to 12 years, said a human rights activist Rasul Jafarov.
One of these activists Abdul Abilov was arrested on 25 November, 2013.
Human rights activists, was arrested for the creation of Facebook a page titled "Stop sycophants." After his arrest the page was closed. Abilov was kept in the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. His mother Nurjahan Abilova claims that her son has nothing to do with drugs.
A lawyer Khalid Bagirov said that the investigation is going with violations of the law, and is deliberately delayed. Accusation against Abilov are not based on real evidence, the lawyer said. He called the police and the court to justice. -03C04-
