Fans Looking Forward to FC Karabakh FC Arsenal Match
Baku / 10/04/18 / Turan: Today at the Baku Olympic Stadium within the second round of the group stage of the Europa League, the football match FC Karabakh - FC Arsenal will take place.
More than 60 thousand tickets have already been sold for this morning, which shows the excitement around the game. The stadium accommodates 68 thousand people.
In the group, in addition to the Azerbaijani and English clubs, Portuguese FC Sporting and Ukrainian FC Vorskla play.
In the first round, FC Karabakh lost to FC Sporting with a score of 0: 2 in a guest game, while Arsenal beat the Ukrainian club with a score of 4: 2 in London.
The rush around this game began immediately after the draw, and it was not only about the opportunity to see the famous English club in Baku. Discussions about the upcoming match mainly concerned Armenian footballer Heinrich Mkhitaryan, who plays for FC Arsenal, and the possibility of his arrival in Baku. As a result, Mkhitaryan refused to come to Azerbaijan, and the head coach of FC Karabakh, Gurban Gurbanov, called this decision of FC Arsenal "the most correct".
In the history of FC Karabakh this is the third meeting with the English, and more precisely with the London clubs.
As part of the group stage of the Europa League in 2015, the Agdam club met with FC Tottenham, losing 1: 3 in the guest game and 0: 1 at home.
In the season of 2017-2018 in the group stage of the Champions League, FC Karabakh played with FC Chelsea, and also lost twice - 0: 6 as a guest and 0: 4 at home.
FC Karabakh, being the champion of Azerbaijan for the last five years, has been playing the European Cups in the group stage for the fifth time. In the group stage of the Europa League this is the fourth performance of the Agdam club and FC Karabakh also once played in the Champions League.
So far, the champion of Azerbaijan has never been able to overcome the group stage of European cups.
The game will begin at 21:00 Baku time. -71D-
