FC Karabakh defeated Gent in home match
Baku/17.02.23/Turan: Late in the evening of February 16 FC "Karabakh" beat Belgian "Gent" in the first match of the 1/16 finals of the Football League of Conferences in Baku, at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium.
The first half of the match was about evenly fought.
After the break Karabakh seized the initiative.
As early as on 51 minutes, the hosts could have opened the scoring. However, Ramil Sheydaev missed a penalty.
Nevertheless, Karabakh kept attacking.
In the 78th minute, Karabakh managed to open the scoring. After a masterful pass by Marko Jankovic, Leandro Andrade slotted the ball into the visitors' goal.
After that, Karabakh had other chances to score. In the 89th minute, Redon Gija hit the crossbar, while on other occasions the hosts failed to finish their attacks successfully.
The match ended with a minimal win for Karabakh.
The return match in Belgium will take place on 23 February.
