FC Khazar Lankaran Suspends Its Participation in Azerbaijani Championship
The basic team of the football club Khazar Lankaran has suspended participation in the football championship of Azerbaijan, the team's website reported.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the club management headed by its owner, the businessman Mubariz Mansimov.
The club will remain a member of the football family of Azerbaijan and will continue its activities in the competition in the younger age categories. According to the report, FC Khazar Lankaran also intends to protect its name and brand and hopes for support from its many fans.
Note that the club owner Mubariz Mansimov, the head of Palmali Shipping Company, does big business in Turkey. However, in recent years he has experienced serious financial difficulties. According to some reports, he has sold his non-core assets.
In the end of the season his team ranked last in the Azerbaijan Premier League and dropped to a lower division. -16D-
