Footballer Javid Huseynov Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Today the Sabail court sentenced a football player, captain of the club Gabala Javid Huseynov to 4 years in prison, finding him guilty under articles 307.1 (Failure to report imminent serious crimes) and 307.2 (Harboring serious crime).
This regards the intention of a group of the footballer’s close friends to beat the journalist Rasim Aliyev for his criticism in social networks.
Recall that the conflict between Aliyev and Huseynov arose because of the journalist's critical status on Facebook about the player demonstrating an impartial gesture at a press interview. After that, the journalist was threatened by Huseynov’s cousin. Huseynov himself called the journalist and “made terms” with him. The deceased said before his death that Huseynov invited him to reconciliation, but when he came to the meeting, he was severely beaten. It happened on August 8 and the next day Rasim Aliyev died in hospital. Five people who participated in the beating received sentences of 9 to 13 years each.
Note that the journalist’s relatives believe Javid Huseynov organized the crime and do not agree with such a mild punishment. Furthermore, the footballer may soon go free under the amnesty recently adopted. -16 / 06D-
