Head of State approves reactionary amendment to the law on Commercial Secrets
President Ilham Aliyev approved a change in the law on trade secrets adopted by the Parliament on 12 June. The amendment classifies as a trade secret information about founders (participants) of commercial entities and their equal footing in the Equity.
It should be noted that this amendment was criticized by local and international experts, who believe that hiding from the public information about the owners of companies reduces transparency and creates conditions for corruption.
Earlier, the President also approved amendments to the law on obtaining information, restricting access to information, including economic and financial data.
The amendments were developed after there were journalist investigations into the ruling elite of companies occupying privileged positions in the Azerbaijani economy. -06D -
