Hudoglu accuses, and city hall denies

Baku/07.06.19/Turan: The executive power of Baku does not allow holding book fairs in parks, stated Shahbaz Huduoglu, the head of the publishing house "Ganun".

According to the entrepreneur, for several months he has not been able to obtain permission from the city administration to hold fairs for selling books at discounted prices.

"The Department of Commerce at the Executive Power of Baku has responded to our written appeals first that it was inappropriate to hold fairs in connection with the Formula 1 races. Then they refused to hold fairs under the pretext of the Europa League. And now they don"t answer at all," said Huduoglu.

According to him, the staff of the publishing house in the Department of Commerce verbally stated that the fairs are not allowed by the head of the Baku Executive Power Eldar Azizov.

Huduoglu considers it inadmissible not to allow fairs to sell books at discounted prices.

He noted that fairs contribute to the promotion of reading books, and the former city authorities allowed them.

The press service of the Baku Executive Power told Turan that they do not have any information about the ban on book fairs and additional information will be provided on this.

However, later the head of the city administration"s press service, Israfil Karimov, told the media that Huduoglu"s allegations of banning book fairs "are not true."

According to him, Huduoglu appealed "for holding a fair at the exit of the Ganjlik metro station" and the Department of Commerce answered him that the territory was under the jurisdiction of the Baku Metro. -06D--
