Human rights activist arrested bank accounts Mirvari Gahramanli
On July 8, the bank accounts of the Rights Protection Committee for Oilmen and its head Mirvari Gahramanli were arrested. As the activist reported to Turan, it was the decision of the Nasimi district court. Moreover, the personal accounts of Gahramanli and deposit accounts of her husband were arrested.
"Law enforcement only forgot to arrest my retirement account. Probably, they would arrest it if they remembered," Gahramanli said ironically.
The account of her NGO was involved in the project in the field of transparency in the extractive industries. The project is funded by the European Foundation for Democracy.
The Committee intends to challenge the decision to arrest accounts in court and seek the abolition of the decision.
"They can take all this away from us, but they cannot take our beliefs, and we will continue our activities," said Gahramanli.
She also regarded it as pressure on their family. As a result of this pressure, the daughter of Gahramanli, Matanat Azizova, was forced to emigrate from Azerbaijan, and her husband got a heart disease.
Recall that Matanat Azizova headed Crisis Center, specializing in the protection of women's rights and is a partner of the Institute for Peace and Democracy, which is headed by Leila Yunus.
After Azizova’s departure from the country the authorities do not let her husband and adult son leave Azerbaijan.
"It's a total attack of the law enforcement agencies on our family, lawlessness and injustice," said Gahramanli. -06D-
