Ilgar Mamedov could be tortures, his wife

Vafa Mammadova, the wife of the convicted leader of the REAL Ilgar Mammadov, expressed serious concern over the fate of her husband. In a statement dated 7 October, she wrote that for 10 daysshe  cannot get information about  his whereabouts.

"The Prison Service, violatiiong  the law, conceals from the family  the place  where  Ilgar is kept," she writes.   Ten days ago, the family was told that Ilgara  would  be transferred to  the Detention Unit Number 3 ( in Shuvalan);since then theere is not any information about him.  The  detention center refused to accept the transfer for  Ilgar, or  give any information about him, said Ilgar’s wife.

"In his last telephone conversation from  the prison in  Sheki, Ilgar said that he was subject to  pressure, so that he write  a petition for pardon,"  writes the wife . Such a long absence  causes  reasonable  concern that Ilgar Mamedov  is tortured to so that  to make him beg for mercy; Vafa Mamedova  asks Ombudswoman and the Red Cross to help clarify the fate of her husband.

The attempts to get a comment on this appeal in the prison service,  were futile.

* Leader of the REAL, Ilgar Mamedov, is one of 100 political prisoners in Azerbaijan.  The  CE Secretary General and the leading international human rights organizationsdem,anded his imemdiate  release. " The Guilt"of  Mammadov was that during the riots in Ismayill region  in January 2013, he came to this town and was interested in the problems of the protesters.
