International Conference : Mobility Partnership in Azerbaijan
Mobility Partnerships (MP) represent the most advanced framework of cooperation and partnership between the EU, EU Member States (MS) and third countries in the field of migration and mobility. They are a key policy instrument of the EU Global Approach to Migration and Mobility. MP enable the EU and its partner countries to address all migration and mobility issues of mutual concern in a targeted, specific and concrete way, creating tangible benefits for citizens and other stakeholders on both sides.
The Joint Declaration on a Mobility Partnership between the republic of Azerbaijan and the EU and its participating MS was signed in December 2013. The success and positive achievements of the MP are determined mainly by the full commitment of all parties involved and initiatives/projects funded and implemented under the MP.
Building on this momentum, and taking into account the objectives of the EU-funded project “Support to the Implementation of the Mobility Partnership with Azerbaijan” (MOBILAZE), the European Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) organise a one-day International Conference "Mobility Partnership in Azerbaijan".
The EU ambassador, Malena Mard believes that this conference reinforces the idea put forward by Ms Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, highlighted during her last visit to Baku, “the European Union and Azerbaijan have confirmed once again their willingness to move forward in many areas of cooperation, working together as partners and looking to develop relations to their full potential”. Ambassador Mard expressed her trust that “MOBILAZE project is an example of deep and mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union".
The conference takes place in the hotel Park-Inn by Radisson, Baku on June 23, 2016 from 09:30, and brings together practitioners and policymakers from Azerbaijan, project partners from the EU MSs, partner countries outside the EU (Georgia and Moldova), international actors and other stakeholders in Azerbaijan. High level representatives from the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan, EU MS, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and ICMPD will participate in the discussions on the future of the MP, share their lessons in their implementation/impact of the framework in different countries, and case studies in the implementation of other MP projects.
Representatives of mass media are invited for the opening part of the conference and the participants will be glad to share the latest news on the cooperation in the MP frameworks (interviews will be provided in Azeri/English/Russian and interpretation will be provided). Draft agenda and project info note are enclosed. -0-
