Issue of New Identity Cards of Azerbaijan to Begin on September 1
Baku / 31.08.18 / Turan: The process of transition to identity cards of the new generation has been accelerated in Azerbaijan. Earlier, the issuance of such documents, playing the role of internal passports, was scheduled to begin on January 1, 2019, but now they are scheduled to come into force on September 1, 2018.
The new identity cards, along with a photograph and other information, will contain information about the fingerprints of a citizen. Removal of prints, as well as shooting in accordance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will be carried out by the issuing authority.
The fingerprints (one finger of each hand) of the identity holder will be recorded on an electronic medium (chip). For persons under the age of 15, fingerprints will not be removed, and a medical certificate of the color of the eyes and the citizen"s height will not be required.
Today the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ramil Usubov, presented the ID of the new generation under the number 1 to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. -06D--
