A week ago in Azerbaijan increased prices for for gasoline Ai-95 and Ai-98 rose. Deputies of the Milli Mejlis and ministerial officials immediately started to reassure the people that this rise in price will not affect the prices of other fuel brands sold in the country and food products. They reported that the gasoline of these brands is imported into the country, so this step has nothing to do with the Tariff Council. The subsidiaries of SOCAR are engaged in deliveries from these brands of fuel; and they bring it for dollars and euros, the rate of which is growing.

In particular, MP Aydin Huseynov said that there are not so many consumers of premium petrol and Super Premium in the country, approximately 5% of all motorists, maybe even 3%. The thing is, these fuel grades are designed for expensive cars with a powerful engine. We do not have so many owners of cool cars. Since the Ai-95 Ai-98 use rich people, an increase in value will not affect the rest of the drivers. However, as it turns out, food prices in Baku supermarkets have increased: flour, butter and vegetable oil, cheese, eggs, sausages. On average, the products named went up by 2-5%, and the greens - by 100%! Say, a bunch of cilantro and dill, which in June was sold at 0.1 manat, is now sold for 0.2-0.3 manat. It is unclear why the summer price rise in the consumer market is related to premium gasoline. In our country there is a "good" tradition: the increase of prices for construction and other materials, spare parts always leads to a rise in the price of food and services. Our sellers are too "good" is such things.

Local sites write that owners of expensive cars, as show observations, are not very happy to pay for gasoline Ai-95 Ai-98. They buy gasoline Ai-92 of local production for 0.9 manats per liter. Independent expert Natig Jafarli believes that such assumptions are not groundless. "The increase in prices for gasoline of elite brands is a kind of psychological preparation for the rise in price of other types of goods. Tariffs for Premium and Super Premium petrol are not regulated by the state, according to the logic, they should be regulated by the market, there are no players in this market in this country. They are supplied by 1-2 companies belonging to SOCAR. They set prices. In fact, there are no vehicles working on this gasoline in the spheres of trade or the agrarian sector, so there should not be any noticeable fluctuations in the consumer market, although in Azerbaijan the processes go against economic laws," Jafarli emphasizes.

The expert believes, that the current increase in fuel prices for brand creates a psychological tension on the market, reinforces the expectations of a rise in price of other grades of gasoline, the tariffs for which are determined by the state. It is possible that the gasoline Ai-92 and other brands may rise in price. Because in the world practice there is no significant difference between the prices for gasoline Ai-95, diesel fuel and Ai-92. Now in Azerbaijan Ai-95 costs 1.50 manat, and diesel fuel - 0.6 manats. There is no such sharp difference in prices in any country of the world. There is a possibility that an increase in the price of premium gasoline is a psychological preparation for the continuation of actions in this direction. High probability of a rise in price for gasoline Ai-92, diesel fuel, and then for gas, heating, water, food, household appliances. Such expectations have long existed.

"It is possible that at the end of autumn diesel fuel will rise in price. Why just the end of autumn? Because the agricultural season in the country will end, and diesel is used in this area. It will be possible to take a decision on changing fuel tariffs," Jafarli summed up.

In a word, the people are preparing for new prices.
