Azerbaijan Increases Export of Eggs by 42 Times
Baku / 08/31/18 / Turan: In the first half of this year, the poultry farms of Azerbaijan, despite the decline in production indicators, increased the export of eggs by 42 times, the State Statistics Committee told Turan IA.
Over six months, over 41 million eggs were sold to Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Qatar and Georgia. Exporters raised $ 2 million 332.5 thousand, which is 37 times higher than the indicator for the comparable period of 2017. During the same period of 2016, Azerbaijan was not an exporter of this poultry product, but instead bought 15.3 million eggs abroad (mainly in Turkey), spending $ 626.5 thousand on it.
The radical change in import and export operations for chicken eggs is associated with the Cabinet of Ministers' decision in the third quarter of 2016 to maintain specific import duties on a number of goods, including commodity eggs in the amount of $ 100 per 1,000 units.
In the first quarter of this year, poultry farms produced 338.9 million eggs, which is 11.7% less than in the same period in 2017. In total for this period, taking into account households, egg production in Azerbaijan totaled 887.4 million units, an increase of 0.9%.
It is noteworthy that this year Azerbaijan has also reduced import of breeding eggs from 26.6 million to 12.5 million. -08B-
