Judicial-Legal Council Punishes Judges
Baku / 14.10.17 / Turan: By the decision of the Judicial-Legal Council, the powers of 20 judges, including 7 chairmen of the courts, were terminated.
In addition, 6 chairmen of the courts and judges of the appellate instance, as well as 8 judges, were transferred to a lower post.
It is motivated by the fact that these judges "committed violations that have caused a fair discontent of citizens." Such a decision was made at the new Board meeting of the Judicial-Legal Council, the Ministry of Justice informs.
An evaluation of the activities of about 70 judges was also carried out in connection with the completion of their term of office.
At the Board meeting, proposals were prepared to the President of Azerbaijan on appointments of judges and chairpersons of courts, and on change of the work of several judges.
Two judges were dismissed from their positions and transferred to lower-level work for the allowed red tape and violation of the performance discipline. With respect to two more judges, a disciplinary execution has begun. The names of the violators are not called.
The Judicial Council has been functioning since February 2005. It consists of 15 people, mostly judges. -02D-
