Minister of Health will not sue a journalist
Baku / 14.06.19 / Turan: Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev refused a lawsuit against journalist Teymur Karimov. This was today's statement at the court hearing in the Nasimi district court of Baku.
Journalist Teymur Karimov thanked his colleagues and all those who supported him.
On May 18, Karimov held a single protest in front of the Ministry of Health. He stated that his seriously ill mother in state medical institutions was treated for money. Police detained him. A few hours later, Karimov was released, promising that on May 21 he would be received at the Ministry of Health. At the same time, the journalist was invited to the prosecutor's office, where he was interrogated about giving bribes to doctors. On June 7, the journalist's mother passed away.
After that, the minister demanded to convict the journalist under the Articles 147.2 (slander), and 148 (insult), insisting on maximum punishment.
The minister believed that the journalist had slandered him, accusing him of "misappropriation", "accepting bribes", "human death". The journalist denied the charges. -06С-
