Ministry of Health Comments on Death of Babies in Salyan
The Ministry of Health has commented on reports of the death of two premature babies in the incubator at a hospital in Salyan.
The representative of the Health Ministry press service Safaya Ahmadova told journalists that the reports on the death of the babies from the lack of oxygen, which was due to a power outage, do not correspond to reality.
The babies’ mother Mirzabita Abdullayeva gave birth to the triplets at 22:15 after 31 weeks of pregnancy. The children were born very weak and they were given intensive care. Despite this, one of the babies died at 1:00 am, and another one died 10 minutes later. But the electricity in the hospital was turned off at 1:30.
In addition, the hospital has a generator and a blackout does not matter, said the representative of the Ministry of Health. However, she did not specify whether the generator was turned on.
The local press claims that, despite the availability of the generator, it is defective and was not turned on. -16D-
