New investigation against Elchin Mammad
Elchin Mammad , the head of the NGO "Legal Enlightenment of Sumgayit Youth" and editor of "Yukselish Namine", today was summoned to the third branch of the Sumgayit City Police Department. Investigator Hikmat Rzayev said that a complaint and investigation was received against, Turan was told by Mammad.
Citizen Natig Hasanov complained to the police that Mammad allegedly beat him, and it had serious consequences. Mammad called it nonsense, and said that in fact he was subjected to pressure. "In fact, a citizen Natig Hasanov and his father Amirhan Hasanov insulted me and punched in the face. I am a legal representative of Farida Hasanova, the former spouse of Natig Hasanov, and defend her rights in court.
On July 29, Sumgayit Court of Appeal considered my complaint against the trial court's decision to terminate the administrative proceedings against Natig Hasanov. The Court of Appeal denied the decision of the Court of First Instance, confirming violent actions against the former spouse, whose rights I defend," Mammad said. Natig Hasanov and his father did not like that Mammad protected the rights of Farida Hasanova and during the trial they insulted him.
Before, on August 8, at the trial in the Sumgayit City Court in the same case Natig Hasanov and his father insulted hi, and then attacked with fists. After that, Mammad complained to the police. The other side did the same.
Mammad considers that the complaints against him are initiated by the authorities because of his human rights activities. He reminded that the Office for Combating Organized Crime of the Interior Ministry imposed a ban on his leaving the country. Although the court overturned the ban, he still is not released, as he wrote in the press. The police is looking for an excuse to take revenge on him, Mammad said.
In response, the Interior Ministry said that in Azerbaijan no one is punished for nothing, and Mammad is not released because of his debt to the bank.–06D—
