Baku/11.08.21/Turan: At the end of July, the State Examination Center announced the results of applicants who took part in the entrance exams for groups II and III.  Not any applicant in any group scored 700 points on the sum of the results of the two stages. This year the highest result in the second group was 691.2 points, and in third group - 680 points.  The same situation was in 2019. According to some experts, these are the worst results in recent years. What the reason of that?

Deputy Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education Ilgar Orudjev told Turan that since March last year, the organization of training in remote form had a significant negative impact on training applicants, quality of education. “This is the second year we have faced a similar results,” he said. According to him, the Ministry of Education, together with the State Examination Center were looking for ways to make final exam questions easier than in the years leading up to the pandemic. “Like last year, this year in exams the same practice was applied and the questions became simpler."

He noted that the Ministry of Education used all possible opportunities in conditions of a pandemic. “We always pay attention to improving the learning environment in secondary schools, especially for applicants.  The decisions made in country in connection with the pandemic are more flexible and correct. In difficult conditions, in we did not face a critical situation, the educational vacuum formed in most countries. Ministry of Education, using all possible tools, non-traditional educational tools, took all the necessary measures for this”.

I. Orudjev stressed that unlike the previous academic year, in 2020-2021 a more established educational environment was formed. Both teachers and students could more successfully use the presented tools and tools. No innovations should and will not be limited by the steps taken. I think and hope that in the next calendar and academic year we will be able to start the traditional education".

Education expert Kamran Asadov noted that applicants are not were able to score maximum points for three important reasons. "From March 2020 classes were not held in the traditional manner due to the pandemic. 11th grade students, who specifically pass exams, for the second year, do not attend school, studying online. Not all of the 1.6 million students in the country's 4,440 schools have computers, smartphones or internet access.” The specialist noted that even with these tools, high-quality online teaching of all subjects is not possible. “For example, high-quality teaching subjects such as biology, mathematics, chemistry is impossible in the mode online ". They require individual classroom work. There is mathematics in all groups of specialties, and poor knowledge of it does not allow you to score maximum points."

According to the expert, there was the Karabakh War II, which began on September 27, 2021 and ended in victory. “At that time, restrictions were imposed on Internet access, and children were deprived of both school and online activities. On the other hand, our territories, the city of Ganja, Tartar and Barda regions, came under rocket fire from Armenia. Up to 2900 people became martyrs in our country. This negatively affected the psyche of their relatives." According to Asadov, the third important point is that the State Examination Center held mock exams annually. “The students who took part in them could find out which topics they had mastered and which ones they didn’t, acquired the skills of working with a collection of questions and cards with answers. Now they have come to entrance exam without taking part in any test exams, and it made an impact. —0--
