Ruslan İzzətli
Political activist announced warning against him by Prosecutor General's Office
Baku/29.07.22/Turan: Political activist Ruslan Izzetli was summoned to the Prosecutor General's Office on July 28, where he was warned against a publication on the military sphere.
According to Turan, the reason for the call to the Prosecutor General's Office was, in particular, a post on his Facebook page on June 26, when on Armed Forces Day he drew attention to the problems of servicemen and war participants. He was given a verbal warning.
He regarded this as a violation of the freedom of expression.
"Issuing this warnings, the Prosecutor General's Office is restoring censorship in the country. This is a direct political pressure," Izzetli said.
The Prosecutor General's Office did not report on the warning to Ruslan Izzetli.
Earlier, on July 27, the Prosecutor General's Office warned the heads of two websites – Fikret Ibishov and Agil Alyshov, who published reports about the army without official confirmation of the Ministry of Defense.
Besides, Tofig Shakhmuradov, known as a military blogger, was arrested administratively for 30 days for the same actions.
Note that in 2013-2021 Ruslan Izzateli led the "D18" movement.
At the organization's conference in 2021, he did not run for the post of chairman for the third time and left the leadership. At present, he holds himself out as an independent politician. -03B06-
