Major themes and editorials of newspapers write about presidential elections. Opposition newspapers have focused on nomination of a reserve candidate  by the National Council of the Democratic Forces.

The official pro-government newspaper published a large number of laudatory articles about President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva, and at the same critical articles about opposition leaders.

All the newspapers publish reports on the beginning of  the observation mission of the OSCE ODIHR on August 26  .

The official pro-government newspapers published an interview with the editor of the newspaper "Yeni Musavat", Rauf  Arifoglu criticizing the opposition.

"Bizim Yol"

Community of Mountain Jews issued a statement supporting candidacy of  Ilham Aliyev.

Documents  of Jamil Hasanli will be presented to the CEC.

Leader of the "Open Society" Rasul Guliyev said that  Jamil Hasanli was nominated for presidency at the request of U.S. congressmen. He criticized the candidacy of Jamil Hasanli.

The pro-government youth established an initiative group "My President" and launched a campaign on social networks in favor of Ilham Aliyev.

The paper draws attention to the fact that the grant  for refugees increased by just 1 AZN 65 kopecks (about $ 2).

The newspaper also notes: "The question of a second candidate from the power  isagain on the agenda." (they mean the statement of the public association under the leadership of Haji Abdul on nomination of  Mehriban Aliyeva as presidential candidate.)

"Oktay Shiraliev (Minister of Health), boasts not the level  of  health care, but the level of construction", said the newspaper.

The leader of the Popular Front Party, Ali Kerimli, commenting on the nomination of Jamil Hasanli as a presidential candidate, said: "A man who knows how to be always on the side of justice."

Prominent lawyer, Aslan Ismailov wrote an article in which he called  on citizens whose rights have been violated in the fight against tyranny.

The CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov, commenting on the nomination of Rustam Ibrahimbayov, as a  candidate for presidency,  noted that under the Constitution,  a person with dual citizenship, can not be president.

The official state newspaper reports that  during four days  the President Ilham Aliyev  opened 24 social objects in seven  regions. 

Meeting of the Supreme Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples took place in Grozny. This structure has issued a statement of support for President Ilham Aliyev.

Azerbaijan was represented  at the meeting by the Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh ul-Islam, Allahshukur Pashazade. -0 –
