Press Review December 13, 2017
The socio-economic development of the Baku villages, the state of bank deposits and deposits, and the rise in prices are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the socio-economic development of the Baku villages and towns. Over the past 10 years, three state programs have been adopted in this direction. It is about improving social conditions, building social facilities, equipping parks, modern enterprises, the system of supplying electricity and gas, sewerage, the level of welfare of the population, roads, transport, and the opening of new jobs.
The website Azadliq.info writes about the problems with bank deposits. According to the information of the Central Bank, as of November 1, deposits in the total amount of 19 billion 697 million manats are kept in banks.
The volume of bank loans for this period amounted to 11 billion 732 million manats. If we compare these two indicators, then 60% of the deposits attracted by banks were used to issue loans. But the question arises, where the remaining 40% or 7 billion 965 million manats was spent.
The Novoye Vremya newspaper writes about the government's inability to curb inflation. Recently, members of the government raided supermarkets and stated that their prices were generally low and stable. However, for the average citizen of the country they are high.
Inflation in Azerbaijan in November 2017 was 0.2%, while food prices went up by 0.3%, prices for non-food products grew by 0.3%, and tariffs for services to the population did not change.
The level of inflation, the situation in the consumer market and in the service sector directly depend on the government's economic program. This program should be aimed at improving the well-being of citizens and countering the deepening of the crisis.
