Psychologist: Center for Studying and Preventing Suicides Required
Baku / 06.08.18 / Turan: In recent years, cases of suicides and repeated suicide attempts have become frequent in Azerbaijan. This opinion was expressed by the psychologist Azad Isazadeh in his conversation with Turan.
A person who has committed suicide should be provided psychological help to eliminate the reasons that led him to this.
This should be handled by professionals, taking into account the age and risk group of the victims. In general, it is necessary to create a special center for studying the causes of suicides, the psychologist believes, for at present there is no scientific approach to this problem.
"Public health does not do this because it does not consider suicide a physical illness, the Ministry of Internal Affairs only keeps statistics, and the Emergency Ministry only reacts after someone has committed suicide, jumping into the sea" the expert said.
Describing the causes of suicide, Isazadeh recalled that two or three years ago there were "loan suicides". Now such suicides have become rarer, because banks have eased their pressure on their individual debtors. -06D--
