«RUH» calls on the Ministry of National Security (MES) to investigate hacking attacks on media sites

The Committee to Protect Journalists «RUH» addressed an appeal to the Ministry of National Security with a request to investigate hacker attacks on the websites of newspapers "Azadlig" and "Yeni Musavat" in the last days. The appeal said that such attacks are becoming more common.

"RUH" called on the MES to focus on attacks on the websites of these two leading newspapers in the country and to identify and punish the attackers.

The attacks on the website of "Azadlig," which began on August 13, continue today, and in the last day have become more intense. Because of this, the activities of the site have been blocked several times.

The attacks on the site, and the company's server hosting the newspaper, are made from IP addresses registered in Iran and Russia.

The newspaper's management believes the reason for the attacks relates to critical publications against the government of Azerbaijan and the source of the attack is within the country.

As for the RUH, this NGO has long been associated with the Press Council and does not take any measures to protect the rights of the press. -16D-
