Second verdict against convicted leader of Citizens and Development Party
Baku/15.04.22/Turan: On April 15, the Yasamal Court of Baku satisfied the complaint against Ali Aliyev, the leader of the Citizens and Development Party by the captain of the State Border Service Ramin Adilov. The court found Ali Aliyev guilty of slander (Article 147.1 of the Criminal Code).
It should be noted that earlier Ali Aliyev was already sentenced to 5 months in prison under the same article by another officer of the Border Service, Emil Jafarov.
The reason for the lawsuits was the statement by Ali Aliyev in the press that the said officers could not have survived the crash of the MI-17 helicopter of the Border Service on November 30, 2021 and that the helicopter could have been shot down by the Russian side.
On January 13, 2022, the Yasamal court already deprived Ali Aliyev of his freedom for five months. Two months before the end of this period, the same court again deprived him of his liberty for one month on the same charge and in the same case. Ali Aliyev rejected the verdict, calling his arrest "a political order from the country's leadership." The defense intends to appeal.
Recall that in the crash of a helicopter of the Border Service in November last year, 14 officers of this department were killed, and two survived. -05D-
