Sumgayit residents protest against waste burning
Baku/09.05.16/Baku: A group of residents of Sumgayit intends to hold a rally to draw attention to the turning the village of Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev in the landfill. One of the initiators of the action, said Turan, that for several months ecological situation in Sumgayit has worsened due to burning the wastes, as a result of which thick clouds of smoke and toxic gases raise into the atmosphere. It is at the entrance to the city, poisoning the air, the stench covers the city. The situation is very hard especially in the summer. Waste should be sent to the waste sorting factory in the Balakhani settlement. But this requires funds, and to save funds, the waste is burned directly in the city. In connection with this problem citizens have complained to the Ministry of Environment, which fined the Housing and communal management of the Executive Power of Sumgayit. However, the situation has not changed. Turan failed to get comments in the Ministry of Environment and Sumgayit city administration.-36D-
