The authorities are not sincere, offering dialogue to civil society
The European institutions are concerned about restrictions on civil society in Azerbaijan. In this connection they consult with the authorities and the representatives of civil society, said the head of the Association of Atlantic Cooperation Youth Zaur Akbar, commenting on the current situation in this area.
According to him, now it is almost impossible to promote civil society in Azerbaijan within the framework of the EU program "Eastern Partnership". Azerbaijan does not fulfill commitments within the EU, with the exception of cooperation in the energy sphere.
Referring to the achievements of civil accord in society, Akbar said that the authorities declare their readiness for cooperation and dialogue, but these statements have imitating nature, since the authorities are not sincere in their proposals.
"We, the civil society, demand that the government carry out its obligations, conduct a real dialogue with civil society. It should not be a roundtable gatherings. They should discuss and adopt mechanisms to address problems plaguing society," said Akbar.-16 / 03B-
