The court did not release Bakhtiyar Hajiyev
Baku/14.02.23/Turan: On Tuesday, the Khatai District Court of Baku considered a petition to transfer public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev to house arrest.
According to the lawyer Agyl Laij, the defense substantiated the petition by the "lack of investigative necessity" of Hajiyev's detention, as well as his state of health due to a long hunger strike.
However, the court did not satisfy the petition and now the defense intends to appeal again.
Hajiyev himself was taken to court and repeated that the criminal case against him was fabricated in order to punish him for his active social activities, criticism of the government, and speaking in the international arena. He stated that he would continue his hunger strike until he was released.
Hajiyev also said that he would not allow medical intervention against his will.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days.
On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. On December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from the public and family members. However, on January 9, he resumed his hunger strike after the appeal court refused to release him and continues to this day.
On January 21, the court extended Hajiyev's arrest for another 1 month. ---16B06---

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
