The court did not release the PFPA activist under house arrest
Baku / 18.09.20 / Turan: On September 18, the Nasimi District Court, chaired by Solam Mustafayeva, rejected the petition of a member of the Presidium of the Popular Front Party to replace the measure of his arrest with house arrest.
According to the lawyer Asabali Mustafayev, Mammad Ibrahim himself was present at the trial, who declared the illegality of his arrest. He also stressed that no investigative measures were taken during his entire period of detention. He also reiterated that he had nothing to do with organizing street demonstrations on July 14-15. An appeal will be filed against the decision of the Nasimi court, the lawyer said.
On July 14-15, thousands of people demonstrated in Baku in support of the army. Its participants held a rally all night and some of them entered the parliament building without the resistance of the guards and caused little damage to the premises.
This gave the authorities a reason to blame the PFPA for the incident and begin mass arrests of its members. A dozen activists were prosecuted on charges of organizing riots, attempting to seize power and resisting police. However, the arrested PFPA members did not take part in the demonstration. Mammad Ibrahim is one of them. He was arrested, like everyone else, for 4 months during the investigation. -16D-
