The Court of Appeal rejected Ali Karimli's claim
Baku/06.08.20/Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal, chaired by Sharafat Mammadova, today considered the complaint of the leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Ali Karimli.
The complaint was filed in connection with the refusal of the Nasimi district court to consider Karimli's claim against the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, the State Security Service, against the cellular operator Azercell LLC, and the provider company Azqtel LLC (trade brand Sazz) in connection with the restriction of his Internet access and mobile communication.
In a statement of claim dated April 21, Karimli indicated that from 22:00 on April 13, access to cellular communications and the Internet was disabled for him and his family. By the time the lawsuit was filed, the connection had not been restored and Karimli saw political reasons. This also coincided with the arrests of Karimli's assistants and other PFPA members.
The deprivation of cellular and Internet connections under the conditions of a strict quarantine regime doomed him and his family members to house arrest.
Karimli asked the court to recognize the violation of rights under the Articles:
3, 8, 10, 14 and 18 of the European Convention guaranteeing protection against inhuman treatment, non-interference with private and family life, freedom of expression, and inadmissibility of persecution on political grounds.
The plaintiff was also Karimli's wife.
However, the Nasimi District Court refused to consider Karimli's claim.
Today, the Baku Court of Appeal also rejected Karimli's complaint against the ruling of the court of first instance, his lawyer Fahraddin Mehdiyev said. — B06-
