The court refused to commute the sentence to invalid of the Karabakh war
On August 19 Nizami Court of Baku considered the case of the convicted activist of the Popular Front Party Asif Yusifli. The trial chaired by Matanat Hajiyeva considered the case in connection with the amendments to Article 178 of the Criminal Code (fraud), on which Yusifli was sentenced to 7.5 years. In May,2015 the Supreme Court reduced the sentence for one and a half years.
The lawyer Fakhraddin Mehdiyev said that today the court refused to reduce the term of punishment of Yusifli, and left it - 6 years, although he could sentence himto a fine of 5,000 manat, according to the recommendation of the Plenum of the Supreme Court. The Court did not consider that Yusifli is invalid of the Karabakh war. The appeal will be lodged against this decision, said the lawyer.-03D-
